Which transmission
I've got a 94 Z28 with 1.6's, LT4 Hotcam, EWP, 4.10's, CAI, BBK shorties and ORY. A friend of mine has a built TH400 with a 4000 stall for sale at a good deal. It's got the 4l60e in it now. Should I put a Vigilante 3200-3600 stall in it or the TH400?

a properly built 4L60E can last behind quite a bit of power. you just gotta know where to get one. Can't have jim bob(I know a guy named Jim bob) build it in his "shop". Gotta go to a reutable shop, likely have it sent to you. I know theres a guy on here who has gone 12.3 at 4200lbs, on a built 4L60E, and he drives it everyday. It's lasted 2 years so far(behind different combo's.) I know a guy who uses Nitrous on his caprice that NA goes mid 12's. He even sprays THRU the shifts of the 4L60E. Too many people toss that trans away cause so many people can't build them. I know there's a guy on here going high 9's on his 4L60E.
Plus, the Th400 eats alot of power, partly doue to a mayjor part having to switch the direction it spins at the 1-2 shift. A th400 can be killed in short order too if you donno what it likes. I think it was chevy high performance, that last month had a write up on the do's and don'ts with the 400, and how to make them hold un godly power.
Bottom line: Keep the 4L60E... when it goes, have it built by FLP, probuilt, CPT, etc...
