I have a 1996 Formula. I was told that the only gauge cluster that will just magically snap into palce without any modifications is the 1997 digital gauge. I was informed that the LS1 gauges will not work, but Ill be trying it shortly anyways.

Where can I get the new cluster reflashed to reflect my current odometer reading?

The Odometer is in the Computer...the Cluster just displays it.

You can do the swap all years so long as you use a 97 cluster, just 93s have a problem due to the tach filter, I had a 97 in mine and the tach didnt work at all.

So will a 1999 cluser work in a 1996? How about a 98 cluster in a 96 or a 97? Im confused as to the compatibility of the clusters.

You can make it work. In the links I posted the wiring diagrahm is posted. Only issue with using a ls1 cluster is the reading will be off but I was told any good tuner could fix this in the tune. Never seen it done yet though.

What readings will be off? My tach on the stock clluster is off by 200 rpms at idle and 500rpms at 6800 actual engine rpms.

Quoted from another board:

the ls1 dash will have different pulse division and the outputs on the pcm will have to be rescaled. constants have to be adjusted. As far as i know tunercat should have them in the 94-95 eeb file. there should be a tach ouput pulse divisor and a speedometer output pulse divisor.

if the Odometer # is kept in the PCM, that would make it extremely easy tp fake the miles on your car. A quick reflash, or a new PCM, and your at zero miles. that doesn't seam like the way it would be. Also, when I was talking to a guy about buying his LT1 sedan, he told me the car had 20k more miles than the OD refected, due to the cluster going out, and him replacing it. It was a digi ODmeter.

What are you talking about? It would be better if the computer did keep miles. Right now all you have to do is swap clusters to fake people out.
