Default Finishing rebuild and oil system will not prime

So got everything done on the motor to the point of adding the intake. So decided to prime the oil system. Got my prime tool out and my mechanical gauge. First off got about 60lbs of pressure with the drill. However no oil and the rockers. Turned the motor over and primed at the same time no change. I slapped the lifters in mostly dry so I took them back out and soaked them straight up. With all the holes facing up. Left them for 2 days.

Got everything back together and started priming again. Still nothing up to the rockers. Since I have 60lbs for now what is about 10 mins of priming I am thinking of just slapping the intake on and running the car. Any ideas on what to do?

Side not all the wholes on the lifters are facing the back of the motor since that is where the flow comes from.

How long did you prime the system for? For one you can't expect the rockers to squirt oil. They will only dribble - sometimes it's even hard to see at first. Sometimes it will take 5 or 6 minutes before you actually see oil up top.

A few 2 min sessions. Then a good 5 min session before my drill overheated some. Waited for it to cool and another 3-4 min session.

It takes a long time even when the engine is running to get oil up top on a fresh build. I'm glad you took the lifters out and oiled them. They should never have been put in not oiled. If they were brand new, I also hope you cleaned them, first. The position of the side holes in the lifters does not matter. Make sure you pour some oil over your valvetrain to lube it until oil does get up there.

The rockers are the last place oil travels before returning to the pan. Depending on the drill you have it may not have enough power to spin the pump enough for oil to reach the rockers. As already said, hopefully the lifters were cleaned and soaked in oil before you put them in as well as the rockers especially the pushrod cups.

I am using 10w30 Valovilne Vr1 Conventional. Could be the drill not being able to get it all the way up. Tho with 60lbs it should be able to. I cam going to slap the car back together oil the rockers and run it. I will keep an eye on it and drive the sucker. Only 15 days till the 4 year first blow up date.
