Default Rear Main Seal

i have a 1995 Camaro Z28 LT1. The rear main seal seems to be leaking. Other than removing a lot of stuff, is there any better way to replace it?

How much is it leaking? You can try and engine seal, from the local parts store. If it does seal it, it won't be for long...it will rear its head again.

Make damn sure it aint the rear intake leak near the EGR tube that many confuse with a rear main seal leaking. The rear main is a bitch cause the tranny through the flywheel has to come off then you have to deal with installing the big thing.

It is a lot easier to fix the intake if that is truly where it is.

Seriously the intake oil leak far out numbrs main seal leaks. Simply stick your hand behind the intake on the right side and feel around.
Good luck

The LT1s have the newer designed 1piece, its really not prone to leak, but like everyone has already stated the back of the intake is a problem area, do it right, dont go putting any stop leak AKA honey in your engine. Talk about losing gas mileage, especially if you put alot of it in.

Same here, thought my rear main was leaking once and I thought, "Hey I'll replace mine while I have tranny out." Took the flywheel off and it was dry as a bone. A little dusty in fact.
