Default How many of you guys drive your lt1 without letting it warm up?

Like the title says, whenever its pretty darn cold outside, do you guys run your car cold without letting it warm up? I sometimes run a little late to college and have to do that sometimes.

I give a minute or two and then go, but I drive real easy on it for five minutes after that. I learned my lesson last time on my monte where I started it up cold when it was 20 degrees out and did a burnout down the street. Then I wondered why it smelled like anitfreeze, apparently I blew out the gasket on the waterpump

I dont drive my Camaro in cold weather, but if I must I do let it warm up. My Expedition? It could be 5 degrees out, I'll fire it up and go.

I usually let my oil temps get around 180* before I even really get into it.

Yeah, there's really no need to let it warm up as long as you don't rev it really high when it's cold.

My car doesnt move until the coolant temp is 150 degrees. But now that it's getting colder it will be parked soon.

Precisely. Once mine gets to temp, then I hammer on it. My Jetta WON'T warm up unless you drive it. It could idle for an hour in 50* weather and the needle won't move. But in both vehicles, when it's cold, I short shift it until it heats up.

If i shiver before i get to my car i let it sit for a minute or two, but usually i just get in and go. I lay off the throttle though.

Also i guess if you count me starting the car then finding a radio station then putting my seatbelt on as waiting....then yes i wait.

i usually let mine run for at least a minute before taking off, and if not i wont take it past 2k rpm until its up to temp.

im fussy about warmups, however there have been times when I let 160 degrees (coolant) suffice as warm enough for WOT. My car is done for the year though, so its spared from all those brutal MI cold starts.

I usually let it warm up for about a minute or two...then just keep the rpms low until the temp guage starts to move.
