Anybody with 93's have long tube headers and retained single wire 02 sensor???
well...my car had the updated 3 wire heated 02 system (thanks to GM High Tech Mag) but it decided to burn up...literally, smoke and all.
I found the article where Lingenfelter said the 3 wire heated 02 sensor was essential for tubular headers.
I had bought single wire 02s to go back in (since I didn't want to risk fire again) but I'm told it won't run good w/ single unheated wire 02 sensors and my long tube headers.
Anybody running it now? How's it working for you? Should I just re-wire the 3-wire heated 02 sensors back in?
Thanks

I have Jethot Headers with the stock O2s. When I first start it I have to let the car idle for no more then 2-3 minutes unit the O2s get hot enough or I get a slight flat spot off idle, could still drive it if needed. After that I have no problems.

can someone point me in the right direction of this 3 wire update. what are the pro's and con's to doing this update? this is the 1st time i have heard of this and am curious to the what, why and how this works. i run single wire o2's and it's very fat at idle. ive been trying for a while now to find someone that can burn me a chip for it locally, of course to no avail. i bought one from pcmforless, but i want to tweek it alittle without sending the chip off, wait for it, reinstall it, testing, remove, send off again, well you see where i'm going with this, any help with this would be greatly appreciated, jason.

I have the single wire O2's and currently im having a lot of problems with em, so im doing the conversion soon. but before when i was with bolt-on's and with my old xe230/236 cam + tuning everything was working flawlessly. now that i went with the 355 build my car runs very rich at idle, and it seems that the single wire O2's cant keep up with the cars needs. tuning out the O2's is very hard to do unless you can get the tune spot on, if not the PCM cant compensate for a lean condition which could be disastrous.

well I run pacesetter longtubes. and my single wire 02's would not heat up enough to go into closed loop. so I had to do the 3-wire heated conversion and some new heated delphi 02's. problem solved...

yeah dyno tuning is needed and prolly a wideband so you can tune out the O2's. at least that what's i was told when i called to get some info on dyno tuning my car. fastbird on the SD board has a write up on the conversion as well that i found a long time ago. meaybe someone can chime in with the link.

After a lot of questions and research, you guys have covered all the importants stuff. Rear 02s are tuned off...its the fronts ones that are the problem. The front ones get moved too far down the exhaust stream to warm up properly w/ tubular headers and causes the rich/irratic condition. Wide open throttle is OK, but cruise and idle are rough at times.
Truth be told I drove the car after the heated system burned up and I thought my opti was going out again because at cruise it seemed to skip...come to find out it was this mess. I've gone over to speeddensity and sent a message to Fastbird -hopefully he can guide me to replacing my heated system.
