98 Z28 LS1 Question Vs Bolt on LT1
Alright, how would a stock A4 98 LS1 match up against a 94 A4 LT1 with LT headers, matching Y-pipe, CAI, and a tune? The LT1 ran a best of 8.4 in the 1/8. I'm curious, who would be on top in this race and how much does a stock 98 A4 LS1 dyno?

If the LS1 car is sportin 2.73's The LT1 should win easier then you think from a dig.

If the LS1 car is running a 2.73 gear, do not run him from a roll....he WILL catch you. It should be a very close race, and may come down to driver mod and/or tire setup. I'd give it to the LT1 by a car from a dig to 100mph. My car has LTs/True Duals, CAI, 3.42s, Weight Reduction, and some sticky Mickeys, and I have yet to have a stock LS1 car pull on me. Bolt-on cars give me a good run, and cammed cars put a whoopin on my ***.

How can I tell if the LS1 has 2:73's? I know the LT1 has 3:23's. I'm not sure if it's the same with LS1's, but I know with LT1's that if the shifter has 1,2,D,OD, then the car has 3:23's. If it starts with 2,D,OD, then it's 2:73's.

guess my calculations are a little off.
My car turns consistent 8.80s 1/8th and 13.70-13.80s 1/4, so i just figured a .4 - .5 gain in 1/8th (to an 8.40) would net about a .6 - .7 gain in the 1/4 (13.10 - 13.20). I have always heard your 1/8th mile is around 75% of the total run.
I may be forgetting that our cars tend to pull harder on the big end, so this is prolly why Im off. Sorry.

An old time slip from my 94 1/8th was 8.58 times that by 1.57 and it comes out to 13.47.. My timeslip says 13.406
So its close, but not perfect

I have a March Pulley 2 piece set that used to be in my car and I took it off. My timing chain broke a while ago and it ended up bending valves. My crank got screwed up as well, because when the guy fixed the timing chain, he didn't clean the oil pan and chunks of the chain was still in it...Anyway, I got a new crank and had the stock Pulley put back on with the balancer. Here is my question. I noticed that the aftermarket alt pulley was still on the car and the stock pulley was put back on. Most likely, im making less power now because of that. Now, should I put my March pulley back on? If i do, you can't use a balancer. It just kind of sets on there which i think is a little strange...Am i missing out on power? I noticed a tenth difference without the March. Keep in mind, this is with the stock pulley and the aftermarket alt pulley still on.
I'm paranoid to put the march back on, because i feel it stresses the crank and I will have problems. I remember shortly after having the March on the car, the timing chain broke. Is this coincidence, or does the March strain something? Due to the damage done to the crank, the March pulley is a little bent. I think that can be smoothed out and put back on though. It's always going to wobble a tad, since there is no balancer. (Which is something I don't understand)
Help me out guys, what do you think? Put the pulley back on, or no?

That pulley looks like mine. (Shiny chrome) Is a dampener, a balancer? Is it just another word for it? I know that the balancer does not fit with the after market pulley that i have and you just slide it on...When I had the after market pulley on, i noticed a better response out the car.
