all you 396 lt1 guys
if there is anyone running a 396 lt1 motor out there, i would like to have some info if possible. because of the large stroke of the motor, how long can i expect the block to last if i only take it to the track about twice every year and only put about six thousand miles on it a year. the car is an A4 with all bolt ons 3.73s will have AFR 210 LT4 heads, built tranny, and Moser 12 Bolt. if you have one how long have you had it? thanks for any info!

Have had mine to the track three times since getting back in Sep-06, 3 x 7 average track passes per visit to HRP...that's 21 passes & runs better everytime, LME does good work though. I expect to run it the entire 07 season Lord willing without issues and with the new Phase 2 setup presently in the works

Yep.....mine may not have that many track passes on it...but I have run ~10 bottles through it....most of the cars I ran into I didn't need the bottle
After almost 4 years I can't complain

what kind of things should i do to the block to make it stronger. im planning on putting a 150-200 shot on it. so for the block is magnafluxed for cracks and shot peened. i have billet splayed 4-bolt mains for it also. does anyone make a valley girdle for lt1s. is this even necessary? also what kind of cams are you running on your 396s? im not going solid roller.thaks in advance. is this too big of a cam? Comp Cams 244/244 duration .600/.600 lift with 1.5s 110LSA

do you guys have an aftermarket oil pan on your cars? if so what kind is it? i know on a 396 you have to pound out the stock oil pan, so i was wondering if some company makes a deeper "stroker" oil pan so i don't have to do this to my stocker.

I built a 396 for my friends z and I did nothing to the oil pan. The only thing that was done for the increased stroke was a little clearncing(sp) on the block.
