Default Finally Time for a Cam! Which one?

I'm thinking about adding a mild cam

what would be good for my set up?

2800 stall with a 3.73 rearend gear

90,000 miles, I have a set of 1.6 crane rr sitting around I can use

I may port the heads if I can get it done for fairly cheap

I am looking for a good all round cam thats good for nitrous, but will still give me a good boost for all motor runs.

Any suggestions

The xfi lobes are more aggressive and designed for use with the 26918 comp springs. If you are going to get your heads ported, check into a custom H/C package if you can afford it. The ones from www.eportworks.com are very reasonably priced and he's had good results. Home porting can do more harm than good.

3015/3016 comp xfi maybe
I like the intake lobes more since they have more lift, but that's up to you.

I'm no expert and if you want max power and performance, you'll contact someone like bret bauer.

For a baby shot do not even take it into consideration on the cam selection.

Maybe try the GMPP 846.

I agree for a mild cam with no headwork.

I just graphed the 846 cam......and it looks almost identical to the 503
both winners in my book!
I would still buy the 503.....and rev it to 6200rpm

What program are you using? Is it free or can you send it to me? Are you including the advertised durations in your calculation? From what I've seen from the 847, the GM cams have very slow ramp rates.

Yeah, I just hadn't seen the specs for the 846 cam, just the 847, and they both have pretty slow ramp rates. Seem lazy to me, like old technology. That's why I recommend Comp more. I guess I should recommend Cam Motion more since they're the local guys, but I just don't hear much LT1 stuff from them.
