Default New best for 396 LT1 - 11.7 @ 118.8

Headed out to Speedworld today as we finally had some decent conditions. Last time out, my best was a 12.1 @ 117.3 with a 1.96 60'. Needless to say, traction was an issue.

I added LCA relocation brackets and ran a new best today of 11.754 @ 118.818. Here's a breakdown of the run:

r/t____014
60'___1.838
330'__4.979
1/8__7.618
MPH__94.180

1000'__9.790

E.T___11.754
MPH__118.818

I backed this up with about six 11.8xx passes. Not bad considering the car still has 3.23s in the back and hasn't been on the dyno yet. A few more tweaks and the car should have no problem getting me kicked off the track.

For those who aren't familiar with my car, it's a 396 LT1 with an LE2/4 setup, street twin, etc. bla bla.

Here's the video of the 11.7 run. The video was shot on a still camera, so the sound quality kind of sucks and there is no zooming:

Here are a couple more vids from the day:

11.8 @ 118

12.0 @ 118

Congrats...Its always nice to see LT1s in the 11s...I'd think that with 4.10s, traction, and a little tweaking on the dyno and you'd really wake that thing up...Though not familiar with the power band of the LE stuff, I'd think that the 4.10s would not only help you out of the hole, but pull you into the higher rpms at the end and pick up some mph...

LE4 cam is essentially an LE3 cam for strokers. It's more of a custom grind for my specific setup, but quite a few other guys with strokers run a very similar cam - Brett refers to it as an LE4.

I can see 11.2x-11.3x with a 1.6 60 and 120+ with more tweaking and gear.
Lots left in your combo. Just keep eliminating the bottlenecks and the weak links and you'll get there.

We'd be a good race on motor as I ran a 11.68 @ 115. Get your 60 foot down and you'll squeeze off some 11.5/6's. What tire and what suspension do you have?

More details on the setup, it should be a low 11 or high 10 sec car at 122+ mph easily.

Here's a quick run down on my setup:

Dragonslayer 3.875" Forged Crank
SRP 14cc dish forged pistons
5.850" H-beam Rods
Canton oil pan
Blueprinted high volume oil pump
Comp R lifters
Pro Magnum Roller Rockers
Comp Cams Pushrods
58MM Arizona Speed and Marine TB
Moroso CAI
Hooker LT's (JetHot Coated)
Street Twin
F.A.S.T engine management with wideband 02 sensor
LE4 Cam 24x/24x, .6xx/.6xx 10x LSA
LE2 Heads
Accel 300+ ignition module and coil
36# SVO Injectors
LE2 Heads
Cloyes Double Roller Timing Chain
Electric Waterpump
Vented Opti
Eibach sportline lowering springs
BMR Strut Tower Brace
BMR Panhard rod
BMR tubular LCAs
BMR LCA relocation brackets
255GPH fuel pump
26x10.50 ET Streets
MT skinnies on Draglites

And some other little sh*t.

The biggest thing holding the car back is the 3.23 gears. 3.23s behind a six speed make it real tough to get out of the hole, and the car is in 3rd for more than half the track. I have no doubt it would be a low 11 second car with more gear and a dyno tune.

You could always use a bigger head too.

Elevation is right around 5400'. The weather in Scottsdale is very nice this time of year.

No doubt, although 119 with a stock casting isn't too shabby considering the other limitations of my setup.

Yeah, you really need more head to feed the cubes. My buddy has the le2 heads/le3 cam on a 355 and went 11.70 at 121 with the stock 3.42 gears, a base pcmforless tune, and launching extremely soft because the rear end has 200k+ miles on it.

the lack of 12 bolt in that list is a big factor

put some 4.11s to that bad boy and a full slick and then see what happens

in some decent air mine trapped almost 123 with TEA lt1 castings and a GM847
