Default anyone here running a 4.56 behind a 6 speed (10 bolt)?

as the title says. Im tempted, but i dont know much about em. are they easier to break? I know i would need 5th gear in the 1/4 mile even with a stock LT1, but 1/4 times arent all im worried about. I want something that slams me back in the seat

good idea/bad idea?

go 3.73 or 4.10. 396D1SS is right, tires + gears + stock rear end = boom

Id be running 17x11 street tires. thats it and thats all.

Are they really that much more dangerous than 4.11s?

Gas isnt gonna be hardly any worse except for the freeway... which i rarely do anyway, its a fun car.

man I can't imagine 4.56 gears..... I have 3.73's with my 6 speed and I am already shifting to 5th gear at 105mph....compared to shifting to 4th around that speed in my old 99 T/A with stock 3.42's....

Joelius, go with the 4.10s; they'll hold you back in the seat and you won't shift every 1.3 seconds...

YoungGun, that's crazy. My car lasts to about 108 in 4th with 4.10s.

Would be kind of silly really, stick with 4:10s, they'll hold up for street tire abuse, geared perfect for our 6spd cars and with the power you have, guessing around 305 @13.69 1/4mi it's a good match, you have a ways to go before needing 4;56 gears Bro.

yea i pretty much canned the idea already, i was kinda dreaming with this thread. If I do anything itll be 4.10s, but im probably just gonna keep saving for a cam swap.

M6's and 10 Bolts are generally never a good combo.

I don't get why you can make it to 108 in 4th with 4.10's and I can make it to 105 in 4th with 3.73's....What RPM you shifting at? I am shifting at about 5500-5700 rpm being my motor is mainly stock.

Edit:
I just watched a video I made of a speedo view and 4th gear makes it to 105 mph @ 5500 rpm....so then around 5800 rpm I am guessin I would be around 110-115mph...so I guess It depends on when you are shifting..
