Default Lt1 Vs Ws6 Heads

I recently picked up a 97 ws6 motor lt1 and was considering swapping the heads I hear they flow 30 horse more than my 93 heads from the factory. Would it be worth the effort to do, along with the cc503 cam? Or should I slap down 1500 to have the 93 heads done? how much more will the ws6 heads flow over the 212 cfm of the 93 heads? thanks.

My GM catalog says no. different part no. If that is so how come the 96 and 97 had different power ratings with basically the same cam.

You can find a Vette LT1, they're supposedly a lot faster

Same part no. on the exhaust from 93-97, sorry no more power there... I've heard that the ws6 heads flat out flow more air?

So you're saying the exhaust is the same from 93-95 as it is in 96-97?..
Isn't that when they went to the dual cat set-up and was rated at 10 more hp..

In all reality 94-97 LT1s make the around the same RWHP. It is just how gm put it out. Would you by a car that came with more emissions and a second cat if it was the same HP rating as the ones that didn't have it. just like the C5 being rated at 350hp and the TA being rated at 305

There are 3-4 different casting numbers for the LT1 heads from 92-97 all of which flow basically the same. The difference between some of them has to do with the thickness of the castings and angle of the plugs. What you really want to find is castings that end in 374 as they have more material in the castings which allows you to do more port work.

If you pulled these off of a 97, then your casting numbers probably end in 561 which are the thinner castings.

10128374 = Gen.II LT1, 53cc, angle plug, aluminum, reverse flow cooling, 175/68cc ports
10205245 = Gen.II LT1, aluminum, reverse flow cooling, 175/68cc port volumes
10207643 = Gen.II LT1, aluminum, reverse flow cooling, 175/68cc port volumes
12551561 = Gen.II LT1, aluminum

561 castings actually flow slightly better in stock form than 374s, but can't be opened up as much.

Believe it or not the best flowing heads are the iron heads from the B body LT1s that were only rated at 260hp.
