Default rocker/spring question.

Gonna do rockers in a few weeks. Im gonna do the Comp cams pro magnum 1.6's. I want to do beehive springs but dont know what ones to get. Also gonna do a cam later down the road w/ 550ish lift so i want springs to be able to handle that. What springs are you guys using?

cool, thanks. Did you have to machine your head to fit the springs? I kinda want to go with beehive springs. I hear a lot of good things about them.

I didn't have to on my Trick-Flow Heads, but not sure about the stock ones.

i have the 918s(which i think are the beehives) on my 97ss along with the pro mags, and the comp cams retainers and locks as well.. i didn't get charged for any machine work so i don't think they had to be machined to work

918's work on stock Lt1 heads and are much lighter than dual springs.

Yes. They were designed for the LS1, but work perfectly on the LT1 heads. They are in fact, the most recommended springs for many of the most common LT1 cam packages.

thanks guys. Now i gotta figure what to do. What do you think about self-aligning rockers or not. I know the pro magnums for self-aligning is almost $100 more. Or get regular ones and throw on some guide plates and hardened pushrods. What u guys think on that??

Some say that the SA rockers won't work with the 918 springs, but I wouldn't know. I would only recommend NSA rockers with 7/16" studs and GMPP guideplates. This seems to be a more stable and stronger combination.
