Default A/C Delete w/ Working Heat

I dont know if this was worth all the extra work but I did it! I removed the evaporater as outlined in the chiltons manual then cut the big black box out of the car. I had to clearance the blower motor so It would blow thru the heater corps without the A/C box in place and filled in the gaps with Fiberglass. I got this Idea from a The Merve. I fabed the A/C delete plate out of plane old sheet metal. All other A/C parts have been removed as well and the 1LE pulley is in place. I wouldnt recomend doing this with the motor in

Thats cool, did you weigh everything for a comparison to total elimination of HVAC unit. I have a small heater that plugs into the cigarette lighter outlet just for cool fall nights so my windows dont fog up.

Very cool idea though

i did the same as you,i dont see the point of removing the A/C for weight reduction and still keeping the heater.my electric heater weighs about 2 lbs and keeps my windows from fogging up just fine.

Wasn't metioned on this board that you need intake hole in that block off sheet for the blower motor to be able to suck in air from the engine compartment then through the heater then through the vents?

Why do you want to suck air from the Engine Bay.. that is where all the hot air and **** is. If you have an Exhaust leak, you are going to be sucking fumes.

I know what you mean now..the Blower Motor will be blocked by a piece of plastic inside. You have to cut it out of the way to get it to work. He had a good pic of it up there where he fiberglassed it.

The blower gets the "cold" air from the hood, you need cut a hole in the pad to get the cold air in to the blower you´ll only get hot air from the heater core this way

Mine gets cold air in it from somewhere, I haven't cut anything. I switch it to cold, it opens a little door in there and it's cold.
