One of the main reasons I went with a 2otl, not to mention how light it. The sound is amazing as well.

with the looks of the stock style single in dual out muffler like magnaflow or flowmaster, borla etc., a 3inch single exhaust all the way out the back would flow way better..

Flowmasters look like a christmas tree..like every muffler shop has one cut out to show.
I had a V6 Camaro muffler round the back to keep it quiet but the car sounded dead lol

How much could I quiet down my Hooker Aerochamber if I installed this after the Y pipe?

I have PS long tubes and 3" Y, CC503 cam in the block.

The Hooker has the most amazing deep and throaty sound with ZERO rasp, but I am just trying to divert unwanted attention from the pigs.

I actually did something similar to that, I put a single in/single out magnaflow muffler on the stock I pipe after the axle. So it's still 2 1/2 inch all the way out, but I don't think that is much of a restriction since my car is basically stock. I just wanted to get rid of the restriction from the muffler and get more sound from the exhaust, so it works out nice.

glad to finally see pics of what that piece of junk looks like. too bad GM and others have to conform to the noise ****'s or we would never have to worry about poor flowing factory mufflers.

It's not negativity. It's a fact. They're junk. I ran them on true duals on my LT1 a while back because I thought they were good too. Here's a story for ya.

I got a new motor for my 97 WS6. A 408 with Trick Flow 235s, Victor Jr intake manifold, etc. The exhaust consists of Pacesetter headers and Y pipe, but I didn't have a catback or anything for it. So I put a piece of 3" straight pipe with a 3" Moroso Spiral Flow muffler and a turn down on the end of the Y pipe.

When I first drove it on the street, I was a little surprised because it didn't really seem any faster than my old 6.0 was. First time I went to the track, it ran a 11.68 at 116. I was right, it was slow. Slower than my 6.0 which had the same exhaust ran into a Hooker catback. I was all bummed out because it ran so slow.

The motor was running good though, it sounded good, etc. Just plain slow. So I took a chance and made two more passes, both 11.68 at 116. It wasn't slowing down any so I knew it wasn't hurt or anything.

I decided to take that piece of straight pipe and the muffler off the end of the Y pipe just for the heck of it, not really expecting much, but hopeful. Next pass, 11.0 at 125. Made a few more passes, all 11.0 at 125. Put the muffler back on, BOOM back down to 116mph.

Took it back off the next day and went back to the track and changed my shift point and what not and ended up running 11.0 at 129 MPH. Time for some suspension obviously, the car won't leave! But at least it does make power.... without the POS Moroso Spiral Flow muffler!!!

Edit: I forgot to mention that the better ET was purely from power. The car got the same 1.52 60' both with and without the muffler. When a muffler holds your car up by 9 MPH and almost 7 tenths, that's really bad.

K. Well does anyone have a cutaway of a Moroso?

Mine are made by Flo Pro.

I understand your point but I've never had a problem with them..mines just a street car so I'm not goin all out. If I was hittin the track I'll run about 24" of 3" off the Headers.

On the street it sounds pretty good with my setup.

You aren't going to have a "problem" from them. How many problems can a muffler give you besides hurting air flow? The spiral flow design is garbage. Take yours off next time you go to the track. You have a good motor, I'm sure it will pick up.

I understand it's just a street car, so is mine. But if my muffler is robbing 100+ horsepower, the thing is coming off. I ordered a regular bullet muffler to replace the spiral flow today.

Well I'm happy with the sound.
What facts can you support your idea of the spiral flow being garbage?
I understand you have some times and experience..has anyone else had the same problem?
