What the hell could explain this?
any time i start the Z, it starts and then dies, then stays running for a minute then will die again, then the 3rd time it will stay on...
i just bought a new red top like 3 days again and still the battery gauge will go low and the lights will dim while driving sometimes.
and to keep it from stalling, M6, i have to get up to like 3k before letting off the clutch.....when the car is cold.
this is a highly modded car that is tuned....so maybe the tune in the cold weather is messin with its driveability....
im clueless, so any good leads are welcome.

ugg haha, i was hoping it wasn't that!
i cant get a new alt. thats no big deal really, the guy who had the car before me ran a decent system i guess and prolly just killed it pretty much.
question though, the car is lowered and there is some snow and i have no way of getting under it to get to the tensioner really, so if u got an alternator and had another person there, and i loosen the alt and they keep tension on the belt i should be able to fit the alt, in there no problem right? or do the tensioner need to be worked?

2inch lowered fbody and a curb isnt exactly too possible lol ill see if i can get a hold of a jack of some sort, i left mine at home and im at college now..i wonder how much the local midas would charge to install it, since then i wont have to deal with moving snow around and finding a jack and someone to help, or deal with the sub zero wind chill....they cant charge more than like 30 bucks to put it in....its so damn easy....lol

aight, just came in from driving it and i guess the alternator is the most likely culprit.
but also, i noticed when its cold, and i quickly tap the gas for a quick rev, it wants to die out.......ideas?

It's going to be more money than you would expect to have someone change the alternator. Hell, isn't it like $30 for an oil change? I wouldn't know, I don't pay people who could potentially screw up my car if I can do it myself.

Its easy to remove the alternator, remove it and have it checked at the auto parts stores for free. It will run you about 95-140 dollars for a remanufactured unit, most of these cars came equiped with a 140amp alternator, some came with a 105amp on 93-94, 95-97 got the 140amp!!! If it tests good, you may want to look around the ignition switch, not the ingnition cylinder, and since its an M6, check your ignition starter switch also... hope it helps.

yeah that does help some. im no stranger to swappin alternators i was just hoping they would do it cheap down here so i didnt have to mess with gettin my jack from home and crap.
how ever i think i might see if advanced will loan out a jack since they usually loan tools. and ill pick up a alternator 2.
