Another ABS INOP and BRAKE light thread...
Well i have seen all of threads about this issue here and over on cz28.com and i still dont know what the hell is going on. A few months back i was letting my car run and the ABS INOP and BRAKE light came on all of a sudden. When this happened my brakes felt a little more squishy. Now sometimes when i start the car only the ABS light will come on and not the BRAKE light. When this happens the brakes feel tight like they should be, but if i cut the car off and restart it both lights will come on and they will once again be squishy! I used to be able to hear my ABS click right before i started the car but now it doesnt do it anymore since the lights come on. Does anyone have any ideas as to what it is? All the brake lights work, the grounds are good, i checked the wheel sensors in the front hubs and they were pluged in. I need to get this squared away guys.

Same exact thing happened to me and i guarantee that the ground wire that is connected with those wires is loose. Just disconnect them, sand it down where they connect and re-tighten them up.

The solenoids in the ABS module may be going bad. I had to replace one on mine, after doing a full brake job and bleeding the brakes.
Pull the connectors that plug into the solenoids on the ABS module. I found my bad one by applying voltage and ground to the terminals. If it clicks, its good. If not its bad
Dont know that thats the 'correct' way to do it, but it worked for me.

Dude where the hell are those wires located? I gave up on these lights a while back.

Are you talking about the passenger side? Are the wires grounded right there? I think a lot of folks are interested in this.

yeah on the passenger side right next to the power steering fluid box. there are a couple sets of wires screwed to the wheel well. You should just make sure ALL of those are tight as can be.

Not sure about you non-TCS guys, but the grounds for my ABS AND TCS stuff was right below/ahead of the modules on the drivers side frame rail.
The wires Im talking about unpluging are directly on top of the ABS module. Two plugs, one per solenoid. Unplug them and use jumper wires to apply voltage and ground. I hook the ground up good, then just touch the +12v to the other terminal momentarily and listen for the click.
Thats also useful in helping to get all the air out of the module when bleeding the brakes. At least for owners with TCS anyway.
