Default LT1 vs. LS1

I've seen this topic on here many times before, but it never interest me because I had no need of doing a LT1 to LS1 conversion. Well a good friend of mine just installed a crate LS stroker in his 02 Camaro and has offered a good deal on his stock 1. I get a complete ls1 with 72k miles, wiring harness, and computer for $1400. This comes at the time when my Lt **** out 1 of it's head gaskets on sunday. Just my luck. Is this an easy swap or is it not worth the trouble?

Talk the price down even more since it's your friend. I plan on getting an LSx block and building it up for a swap eventually. I say go for it if you have the resources to complete it

thats a good deal if comes with the oil pan and acc.
still a good deal if not, its not hard to do the conv. just need all the right parts, and a place to do it, because it wont come together overnight like swapping in another lt1, i have done the conv. a few times alredy.
swapping kmember will the hardest part if u are doing in a garage.
need stock kmemeber and rack and pinion from a ls1 with mounts.
wiring/gages to dash is optional since i always go with autometer stuff,
easier for me. will also need a ls1 4l60e or t56 as lt1 will not work.
cheapest will be stock 60e from ls1 with stock flexplt. and tc
i go either th400 or t56 both came about the same in price. dont mess with the 4l60e that much. since the swap has been for hi power reasons, more than 500rwhp.

I am looking into it as well and actually got a LS1 Harness built to work in the Car. I don't have an Engine to play with, but so far we have had everything work as it should. See if you can talk him down on the Engine a little bit more..I have gotten a few around here for that price, is he is a good friend, tell him to hook you up..

I love my LT1, but the LS1 Aftermarket is better and parts are everywhere. It is just a better designed motor, new technology. I am building a 402 LS6, if you are going to do it, do it big.

Same thing I am goin to do..
Just a little LT1 Camaro.. And then BAM.. Didn't see it comin.
And mine weighing in at nothing, it will fly with over 400RWHP/RWTQ coming out of the Engine.

I am in the middle of a debate with myself about that right now since I just killed my Tranny and Ring/Pinion.

One of the things that got me going back and forth is that I've been gathering alot of LT1 parts to build the one in the car. New cc306 cam, pushrods, throttle body, 1.6 roller rockers, lifters, **** the list goes on. My whole thing was to beat up on some LS's talking crap.
