well I cracked the stock heads and since i have already taken the engine out i decided to go with more power...if that means going with just a new set of heads and going supercharged (which i have thought a little about) or going to Lt4. which ever one give more power but at a price range i can reach (and no i dont ahve a set price range). it just depends on what the power to money ratio is.....

they dont make the lt4 conversion kit now more but you can still find the parts only thing getting a genuine lt4 intake manifold will be a hassle. if you going to get a supercharger i say go with the lt4 heads but if not you can get the lloyd elliot heads and cam stage 2 for that much. turning your motor into a lt4 wont give you alot of hp gain the lt4 hot cam is a pretty mild cam

What are your power goals? Is it a daily driven car, once its put back together? How much money do you want to spend? Will it see the track? Answer some of these questions and you'll get better responses.
A supercharger plus LT4 heads and intake would cost upwards of $5000 plus labor. You could just as easily search around the for sale section and pickup some used LE heads(much easier to find than LT4 heads) and cam, a stroker kit(383) and the LT4 intake you can now get from Summit. Wanna go cheaper, $500 can get the block work for a 355(seawolf06 can show you where to go), heads, LT4 hotcam and some nitrous. All depends on your goals and intended use.

its going to be a weekend drag strip car not a daily driver. Money is the what im worried about. I can save for what i need... Yes it will see the track
I do all of the labor myself with the exception of the tranny. No one touchs my car except me. What are LE heads though?... I havent heard of them.

The LT4 does do 425hp... on an engine dyno not at the rear wheels
And it will give you more than a 40hp gain at the wheels if you do the heads/intake not just the hotcam.
The question should be is it worth it to go with the LT4 conversion with the custom cams and head work that can be done for almost the same price to give better performance.

I could show the dyno chart from mine that shows less than 260 stock and around 360 with the LT4 conversion. Both numbers at the wheels. I never put the engine on an engine dyno, so I don't know the actual drivetrain loss, but take 360 at the wheels and factor in the drivetrain loss, it works out fairly close to advertised.
