Connecting rod side to side clerance (end play) out of spec.
Just got a measuement on my new Scat forged connecting rods end play. It is sitting at .020" between the two connecting rods.
GM spec say .015" max. on the CR end play.
How big a problem is this?

Find out what Scat specs it at?? Also is that end play side to side per rod in the gm spec or total between the two I am not real great on what exactly those specs mean until I look at the books.

No problem at all. I have run them up to .040 and as little as .010. Havent seen any advantages from either. A lot of people will tell you that a tighter clearance will hold the oil in the bearing longer to tranfer the heat into the oil and out of the bearing and crank journal but i have seen no oil temp differences using the clearances stated above and no pressure diff either. Im not a pro engine builder here but this is my experience with this. Hope this will help you out a little.

.020 is a good number. That is what my Scat rods and crank averaged out to having between the two spread apart rods. You want to have enough clearance to allow the rods to float free and find their centers so to speak.
