when my buddy put his fule pump in his fule hand is all screwed up its not reading right did yours have that problem?

No mine worked fine. Maybe he tangled or damaged part of the sending unit.

Over extending the fuel level float is common when they are replaced and trying to get them back into the tank. You can't force the assembly into the fuel tank, you have to be gentle with it and get it just right to let it drop back into place. Otherwise the sending unit quits sending signal to the gauge cluster. The float mechanism is just a reastat basiclly and are very sensitive.
