Default Headers!!!

im lookin at a header and y pipe kit on summit racing...and i was just wondering on how hard and time consuming it is to put headers on..do you really have to tilt the engine to put them on...ive looked and there isnt a whole lot of space to move in the engine bay...so i was just wonderin on how hard it is to put them on

they are a bitch to install...plan on a full day..or weekend, depending on your skill level. I know on a friends TA we had to jack up the engine and bang on a few things to get them to fit...but they are def worth it, in sound, performance, and it cuts the time it takes to change your plugs n wires in half. My friend with a stock manifold TA just changed his plugs and wires...took him like 5 hours...i did mine in about an hour, just bullshittin around in the garage. good luck to ya

I just did mine last weekend and it definitely was a pain, it took two of us all day-8 hours! (with a hyd. lift) Part of that might be due to the stubborn header bolts and mis shaped y pipe.
We didn't tilt engine, but we disconnected the steering knuckle, alternator, and a couple of spark plugs on each side. And starter. Good luck.
btw, what brand headers u getting?

the pacesetter headers are a decent header. def. the best bang for the buck. they are a pain to get in but just make sure u get good header gaskets and bolts. as far as plug wires, you should just change them while the headers are out of the way. i ran mine in the stock location and havent had any problem with burning them.

like said before it is a huge!!!!! pain and half way through you will wish you paid someone to do it but when you done youll be glad you7 saved 400+ dollors. i did mids in my lt1 alone and i had the car off the road for a month cause of ignition problem. but i spend 3 different days working on them and lots of time.

but i did them in my 70 z28 (longtubes) and i took 2 hours to get the old ones off and the new ones one

I would also ask people how hard it is to change out the plugs, then it might be a huge benefit to save up some more cash for another brand. My Hooker Long tube are fairly easy to change out the plugs, takes me about 20 minutes to do all 8. I had JBA headders and it was a nightmare, took all day to change them out.........

Make sure you get some good gaskets like percy's. I have had them on my shortys for two years now without a problem. And make sure you get choated headers
