Default ram air hood questions

i am trying to make my ram air hood functional and ran into some problems. i bought a harwood fiberglass hood without knowing the ram air part is blocked off. i found a cheep 96 ws6 air box and decided to cut the holes or nostrils open, i cut around the edges and when the middle part poped out if fell back into the hood so theres no opening to the engine bay. it seems like i should cut around this rectangle part but i want to make sure. if anyone has any advice or could take a pic of what a ram air hood hood looks like from the inside it would help me out a lot. thanks

Your hood looks alot like my ultra Z hood. If your talking about the rectangular part that you see when you open the hood (underside) Then yes you must open that part up to make it functional. I used a dremel tool. This is a messy job, be sure to use some sort of dust mask and take your time. This is a lot easier is you remove the hood but you can do it on the car.

I dont know if your hood is made similarly to the OEM ram air hood, but tomorrow I can take some pictures of the underside of my ram air hood to show you where its cut out

Here you go complete with measurement. Note that I took off an additional 1/2". I opened it up a bit and removed the rain baffles since my car is not a daily driver. This is an OEM hood.

It's the only pic I took. Can't say that I felt anything on the ***-o-meter but I figured the straight shot to the filter would help a bit.

That screen won't slow you down, I ran my 11 with a screened MAF. Like you I have both. When my car was boltons only the descreened MAF actually lost me a tenth. I haven't run the ported MAF at the track since the H&C.
