Default water pump replacement

i need to do this in a time span of about 6 hours or less. therefore is it easier to replace it with an oem one or electric? is it something that can be done relatively easily by oneself? if so is there a guide for it? or should i just take it to a shop and let them deal with it? the only problem with that is i would have to get it there without overheating it.

It definitely can be done in 6 hours or less, but probably not in your first attempt ever. Going to an electric would definitely take longer as all of the LT1 electric pumps I am familiar with require that you press out the guts of the stock pump and install the electric pump into the (now empty) stock housing. Additionally, you have the added time of wiring up your new electric pump.

In replacing with OEM, do not forget the connector rod that goes on the back of the OEM pump. It slides on the splines back there and then the other end slides on the matching splines coming out of the front cover.

Also, do not forget to bleed the system when you are done.

You shouldn't have a problem doing a stock replacement in under 6 hours. I wouldn't think it would take more than 2-3 hrs for a newbie. Electric pump is different, as already stated, you have to press the internals out. It can still be done in 6 hours though, unless you decided to get rid of the water pump drive shaft/gear as well.

Taker the Radiator completely out, and everything is right infront of you.

Why in hell would you take the radiator out? Once the fans comes out, everything is accessible.

Cause you have to take off all of the Hoses anyways, and I have no AC, so it took the whole minute to remove the Radiator. That's just me though...
