Default CC306 cam and CC986 springs

I just got a CC306 cam and CC986 springs with the 747 retainers but now I wonder if I should get a different spring. That is what was recommended but I didn't realize that spring is only good for .560 lift. I wanted to run 1.6RR. So will that spring be ok with 1.5RR or is it taking a chance on valve float?

I am running the CC306 with 1.6 rockers and 986 springs. I have ran this combo for years with no problems. I make peak HP at 6200rpm with unported factory heads.

Do you have the beehive 986 or the double valve spring (Jegs 249-986-16)? I would hate to put this together and have a problem.

Thanks for the info.

Some people say yes others say 918's.

I already have the 986,s retainers, locks, locaters.
The 987 would be a cheap upgrade but then spring pressure is higher.

I would go with the 918's. The 987's are overkill and they are a lot wider than the stock spring. The 918's are a direct replacement for the stock springs.
