i have a 97 ta with cai, pcm4less tune and cutout and my gosh the new mustangs are pretty fast he killed me off the line, we only went like 50 yards to the other stop light and he was probably 2 car lengths ahead of me, he told me his was an auto like mine.. has anyone else raced the new mustangs and had the same experience.. i just couldnt believe how he shot out of the hole

They are a dog at the track..they are not that fast in my opinion, I have taken many of them. I drove a new GT back in 05 when they were first coming out. It was a M5, I wasn't really impressed. Even that new 500hp Shelby GT 500 runs only 13's in the quarter..they are pigs.

You guys are either talking out of your asses or just witnesses to some very unfortunate driving.
The gt500 is a low-mid 12 second capable car stock with some drag radials.
The new GT is similar in power to ls1 cars and will run mid 13's stock.

I am talking out of my ***..do it all the time..
Popular Mechanics took that Mustang to the Track with a C6 Z06 and a Viper. All 500hp Cars, and the Mustang pulled a 12.8 (sorry, just looked it up again here at work). Weighing in at 3800lbs, that is still a fat *** car, and should pull faster than that with that much power. I am still trying to figure out where the weight is, they have aluminum 4.6l blocks, that is puny compared to the Iron 5.7 LT1. As far as the GT's, I still wasn't impressed by them.

There is a guy that lives near me he has a 05 mustang gt with a coldair intake and 5speed I have raced him about 4 times now. It is usually who ever gets the jump wins. I have only raced him once from a stop and that time I got him pretty good 2-3 cars.I think he spun bad on the launch. And just to compare I have a 1995 firehawk long tubes, no cats, loud mouth exhaust, Madz28 tune, M6 and the free mods.

There was a stock 06 Mudstain GT that I saw at a track 2 hours away from me, he had 3 runs, in the first I was laughing since he pulled a mid 15 second pass.Guy went up again for a second pass and pulled a high 14. But... on the last pass... he managed to get a high 13 run!!!! that last run made me think different... at least the car seemed stock, I heard rumor that it was stock except for a K&N air filter, no cold air, just the filter element. So who knows, I would attribute your loss to the driver mod.

I took the numbers from this (SITE)
1993 Chevrolet Camaro V-6 9.0 16.6
1993 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 5.8 14.4
1994 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 5.7 14.2
1994 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Conv. 6.2 14.5
1995 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 5.7 14.2
1995 Chevrolet Camaro 3800 7.4 15.7
1996 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 5.7 14.1
1996 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 SS 5.3 13.8
VS
Quarter-mile time: 13.8 sec @ 103 mph
and Car and Driver Mustang
Base price: $26,370
0-to-60-mph time: 5.1 sec
Quarter-mile time: 13.8 sec @ 103 mph
Looks like stock for stock the quarter mile times for a 95 LT1 Corvette, 07 GT and Camaro SS are close. So its probably a drivers race.

Mattybz28: Huh?
Comparing the 2 Engines.. the LT1 Cars have a bigger, heavier Engine, and the Mustang is still a 3800+lb pig.
I was just merely discussing what I read, so if you are in support the Mustang, go buy one, and line it up..I am not going to sit here and look like a tard argueing with you, I'll do it at the track..

Yea, I have seen plenty of them, a friend of mine has a Built Cobra. The Heads are what make them things look big, the actual Block is not that big. Them Modular Engines are kind of decieving when you look at them. They are Twin-DOHC Engines, with that Roots Super Charger, so there is alot under there when you look at it. Then he said it was only a 4.6l, and I was like WTF.. Might weigh the same or close..it would be an interesting comparison.
You would think there would be more Engine there with all that built on it. Look at the Corvette LT5 in the ZR1's, that thing is a monster of a 5.7l Engine. Same setup, Twin-DOHC, and a good size Intake on that one also. That thing is alot of Engine in that Vette. I was thinking about that at one point in time until I saw the price tag..
