Default no maf?

i did a search for this but didnt come up w anything. i read on a recent post that the maf can be tuned completely out. can anyone tell me the pros and cons of this, if any? any losses? the reason i ask is because i am doing an lt1 swap into a non lt1 car and currently have no maf and will not get one if i dont need it. thanks everybody

Yes, you can run without a MAF, it's called speed density mode. If you do a search for speed density you should find a lot more info. Some of the pro's for going speed density are:

-Reduced intake air restriction
-Don't have to worry about reaching the MAF sensor limit
-One less sensor to worry about
-More accurate tune for forced induction

Some cons of going speed density:

-Probably not as accurate
-Can be more sensitive to weather/altitude changes
-Need >1bar MAP sensor if forced induction and significant changes to tune

The 93 f-body's were speed density, but 94's and up use the MAF. I plan to go speed density eventually since it's ideal for forced induction.
