94 Check valve, what is this?

94 Check valve, what is this? I broke that little annoying piece that comes out of the passenger side firewall while trying to remove my engine from the car, I think it's the check valve, it has two little holes that hook to something, is this the check valve, what the hell does it do? Will my car run without it? Does anyone have it? I attached a picture showing what part hooks to it.
