you mean you cant get them passed the steering shaft? because when i was putting some pacesetters i had to disconnect it and put the header and then connect it back.

I heard headman didn't fit well with stock cars, something about the steering shaft, and hvac box on the passenger side.

I have modified the air box and it is going to work. But I also read on another thread that there would be no worries on the steering shaft with these headers and a stock rack. I think that was said by Tony Shepard. fast93z.com. I see them on his car in the pics but no pics of the steering shaft. Just not sure yet. Thanks

That thread you're talking about was a convo myself and tony were having about clearance but Tony and I are both running madman manual racks and i have a bmr k-mbr and he has a PA racing I think.... I was looking at my headers tonight with the engine not in the car and I think it's gonna fit but only cause the madman steering shaft is super narrow with none of those circular things going down it.... i'm not sure if those will fit with the stock steering shaft..... maybe you can buy just the shaft from madman????? i'm sure there's a way to mod it to fit a stock power rack with a few minor mods.... not 100% sure but it's a start....

The Hedmans were designed to be used with a manual rack. To make them work with the factory rack you will have to replace the steering shaft. I built one for my old Firebird using parts from Borgeson. Even with that done you will have to rework (flatten) the number one tube a little.

Good Luck,

Daren

yeah the hookers would have worked fine for most apps..... when you are running a manual rack usually you're making enough power to require stepped race headers like the hedmans....... hence fitment problems for those with power steering....

On my Camaro Stocker the Hedman steps were actually slower than the Hookers!

I had to have my #1 tube modded to work with power steering, a LS1 steering shaft will also help.

Do you mean modded as in beating the hell out of it or having the tube reworked? Do you have any pics? WHat is different about the steering shafts? Thanks

Tube was re-worked, LS1 shaft does not have a "rag" joint.

No pics

The initial reaction of these Headers last year was that they will fit with stock steering shaft and rack. After a few of us installed the headers....we realized the #1 primary will have to be tweaked or the stock steering shaft modified. I found it easier to just convert to manual rack. It can be done with stock steering shaft but just takes a little work to make it fit.

my pacesetters worked fine, but the plastic boot that goes around it wont fit. Do i need that plastic boot? Just use a fine adjustment tool
