Default do manifold bolts commonly break?

I am contemplating my next mod to be cat back or headers (in any order) and I was warned by a guy who said I would probably break off a manifold bolt due to the fact that it is a 1994 model. is this likely to happen and how much of a pain in the A would it end up being. i know everything on my car is a pain to fix\change.

It's possible, but not guaranteed to break. If your worried about it, heat the bolt up with a oxy acetylene torch and it will come right out. My y-pipe studs broke off but I didn't care cause I wasn't ever going to put them back.

Spray them down with PB blaster or other sort of penatrating lube and let them sit for a couple hours (longer if possible) you should be fine

I sprayed mine with PB Blaster the night before and then before I took the bolts out. It does help, but doesn't solve bolt fatique problems.

I haven't had a problem...the Header Bolts that come with the Pace Setters like to round off, I had to grind off the Heads and get them out that way.

my Y-pipe bolts broke, but its really humid here and the gulf is real close, so I can imagine they rusted pretty badly and thats why they broke

i impacted my fruit loop of a stock Y pipe off. bolts were rusted more than a nova's chassis. they came off cleanly.

ps i used 15-20 yr old penetrating oil
