Default o2 sensor removal?

i have no idea on how to get my pass side o2 sensor out. It has been throwing codes and causing me to get like 15 to the gal highway for the last week, so i went out and bought a new o2 sensor for 50 bucks and i go to put it in and i cannot get at the old one.

You have Headers, or Manifolds..
It's in there somewhere, might have to get under the Car, been so long since I have seen Manifolds..

make sure you have the exhaust nice and hot. makes removal alot easier.

they sell a special socket for O2 sensors. you could make one by cutting a slit into the side so could get to the nut, and let the wire hang out the side.

looks somthing like this...

and they have these wrenches also.

i even think autozone, or any other parts store sells them sockets.

Coat it with Fabulous blaster and let it sit for about a day. Then it'll come out with some yelling and screaming.

It's not a matter of it coming out, or having the socket, it's a matter of REACHING it. I'm in the EXACT same boat ggk. Mines toasted and my arms don't bend like that Can't get at it from the front, and under there's no way to get any torque on it. My pass side, which is wiiiiiide open, literally fell out. It was blissful! Car was cold too.

im gonna deal with it until sat and ill put it on the lift and pull the exhaust so i can get at it, or at least put long tubes on it .

the one i have to pull is the passenger side, but it slipped and i spun it a little so i decided to stop and do it on sat.

I sadly don't have access to a lift or I'd drop the exhaust too :\

once you change ur exhaust youll see, espeically with long tube headers, and when u do change em, remember to cancel out ur rear O2 sensors or else ur emmisions pump wont work. then just Ziptie em up to the frame, and ur all good.

heh I don't have the patience for 10hrs to do an O2 sensor. Maybe swap in headers, but not an O2 sensor

Thankfully I have only 2, left and right bank. Go go 93!

ggk -

The O2 sensor socket I used had a hex pattern on the outside on the tail end (where the ratchet would attach); I placed a 6 point wrench on the outside of the socket and was able to remove the sensor in that fashion - if I can do it anyone can!

Good luck!
