Default Edelbrock LT4 VS Stock LT1 Intake pics

Received my Edelbrock LT4 intake about 3 days ago and decided to do a little photo shot with the stock LT1 intake. Not going to stay stock for long plan on sending it to Lloyd in the next week or two to get fully ported and opened my Monoblade with a Nitro Dave's Monoblade nitrous plate (only 5 in existance so far, lol) Should move some air.
BTW I did not weigh the manifolds but they have to be within a pound of each others so we should see similiar weight with a ported Edebrock and stock casting.

As you can see from the Front view of the intake the Edelbrock version utilizes a 58mm TB bores vs the stock 48mm TB bores. Also notice the thicker mating surface where the intake mates with the heads and the block.

Something I found interesting is there is a port in the back of the intake that is not apparent on the stock castings??? Maybe someone knows what it is for, because I am kinda of clueless?

Edebrock places the casting number on the passenger side EGR selonoid on the back of the intake and from what I can tell stock style block off plates will work fine.

From what I can tell the Edelbrock intake seems to be between a half an inch to an inch in width, and the LT1 intake runners measure roughly 3inches vs the Edlebrock’s 3.25(I believe the Miniram intake has a 3.5 inch runner which looks a lot like the Edelbrock intakes.

In these pics you can actually see the way the intake is shaped in the back and along the intake by the tops fins

As you can see the vacuum ports on the driver side are for the PCV, EGR Solenoid, Optispark, and Brake Booster. On the Edelbrock version of the intake the Optispark and the Brake Booster switch locations but can easily be identified since the Brake booster uses a larger vacuum fitting.
The passenger side still uses the FPR vacuum line and the A/C heater control system in the stock locations.

Another plus for this manifold is that it accepts the GM LT4 Race gasket part number 12367777 the factory intakes must be ported to accept that.

The "mystery port" on the back is for EGR passage machining, that was one of the major delays in production they experianced.

Interesting pictures. It seems like a viable alternative to the LT4 intake. Stock vs this intake dyno numbers would be interesting with the intake being the only thing changed.

Camera flash is your friend Those rear shots are hard to see what you're talking about. Especially the width one. Looks the same to me.

Anyways it looks nice. Am I correct in assuming these are "backwards compatible" with 93 motors?

The top of the runner has a better angle than the stocker, which is a restriction.

Looks really nice, and it looks like it has a lot more meat on it where it meets the heads. That could be huge for the guys trying to mount the Arao 32V heads.

Can you explain the last picture to me. Is that a chop? why does it look so much smaller all of the sudden???

The stocker looks shorter than the Edel in most of them. But then look at where the stocker sits for the base compared to the Edel. It's all goofy.

heh Just so you know T/A KID, that's the "LT1" version of the Edel. 7109 is the "LT4" version. It says they're matched to their appropriate heads, but if there's really a difference between them I have no idea. Second paragraph, starting with DESCRIPTION is where it talks about all that.

I think they both start as the same casting. My LT4(7109) has 7107 cast into it as well. It's definately the LT4, the intake port matches the LT4 race gasket.

Yes I think the LT1 Edelbrock carries the satin finish as well.

The "mystery port" on the back is for EGR passage machining
So I guess I just need to plug it with a NPT fitting?

Camera flash is your friend Those rear shots are hard to see what you're talking about. Especially the width one. Looks the same to me.
LOL, I know the flash was actually disrupting most of the pics so I took it off and it started to get darker outside so I was in a hurry on most of the pics.

Looks really nice, and it looks like it has a lot more meat on it where it meets the heads
Exactly why I think this intake has some pretty good potential we will see.

your sending the edelbrock to lloyd, i cant wait, he was worried when i talked to hmi about it, about plenum volume...id love to see if he can flow this thing stock and then port it and see aht it does vs the lt1 and lt4 manifolds
Yea I should be sending it pretty soon, I am sure he can flow the intake VS a ported factory casting. Well the intake is WIDER so I hope that can make up for some of the lack in plenum if there really is any, plus I have a monoblade to help the plenum volume thing out. To be honest I could care less about plenum volume this is going on a Procharged motor, lol.

heh Just so you know T/A KID, that's the "LT1" version of the Edel. 7109 is the "LT4" version
I looked at that as well and noticed everything else said 7109 and the casting states 7107 called them and they told me it was the LT4 intake that I have so?????????

I want to see ported vs. ported results.

The people so convinced that this is a godsent are going to try and compare ported Edelbrock to as cast stock which is silly.
