Default timing chain help

Last part i need for my cam swap is a timing chain. I was talkin to bret and he suggested the ProGear set@$80ish and that it was real easy to deg. the cam vs. the Cloyts one. And i also seen a Lunati one for $188 that was a full roller. What one are you guys using and do i need a lt1 specific one or any hyro-rolelr cam years 87+? I would assum not because of the opti pin correct. So whats a good one?

If you have an ewp and swapped to vented opti you could run a sbc timing set. I'm running the cloyes double roller.

Cloyes dbl roller here... I had to pull my timing cover shortly after getting it running for something or another. And it was making slight contact with the cover, but nothing 5 minutes worth of grinding couldnt solve.

FWIW, the hex-adjust cloyes setup will not work if your going to be running an opti. The adjustment mechanism doesnt allow for the opti to mate with the cam face.

The stock set works far better than most give it credit for.

I have the pro gear I got from Bret and it was very heavy duty. I was also glad I didn't have to grind the timing cover.

I went with the LT4 Extreme Duty on mine. I did not want to convert to an electric water pump though.

vented opti uses a dowel while the non vented opti uses a spline drive and has a splined center in the cam sprocket.

Timing cover, timing set, opti, wiring from opti to the connector up along the intake manifold.

That and vented opti cam, or change to the longer dowel pin. And the vacuum lines.

Do you know the part number on that PROGEAR, I was gonna use the 3145cloys chain but that progrear does look better.
