Default lt4 hotcam question

Ive been reading about the diffrences in the cams use in lt1s from 93-97 such as dowel pin lenght and diffrent splines use on the cam gear that drove the optispark and other things.Im wanting to put a lt4 hotcam in my 93 engine but the lt4 cam didnt come out until 96 or 97 right? So what would i have to make to get it to work?

The LT4 hot cam and the production LT4 cams are different. IF your installing the hot cam which i think you are. All your going to need to do with the cam it self is cut the dowel pin to length and lube it before you put it in. lol

Doesn't a '93 have a Cam that has the Center Pin with the little Key-way on it, not a Dowell Pin..

I dont know for sure what the diffrence is on the 93's. Ive been trying to find some info on the 93 engines.like the splines on the cam gear. i dont think the hot cam has splines on it.I just know that the 94 and up engines had many diffrences than the 93's when it came to cams and the optispark drive part of the cam.I havent really been able to find many pepole running cams in 93 engines to ask questions to.

So if i wanted to put a cam in my 93z i would have to buy a timing cover and opti for a 95 and up. or is there cams out there that have splines instead of the dowel

There are cams out there just not a huge selection. I'd just upgrade. The vented opti in the 95+ is a little better IMO.

i kept my 94 wit the c06 cam...the 93-94 cams dont have a hole, they use a tooth in the timing gear..the 95-97 have the problem where they ahve to have a hole in the cam for the opti to go into...i think the 93-97 can use any eay model sbc cam...??

Yea, you just have to get a 95-up Timing Cover Plate and Vented OPTI.
