C'mon now man. You've been here for awhile now. Long enough to know that the little bit of info you gave us won't help us help you. Could be anything.

if you installed the fuel pump yourself, check that all the hoses are correctly plugged in. but honestly I have no idea then, maybe somebody else will chime in?

Did it happen as soon as you seafoamed it? Seafoam can work wonders, but sadly it can also cause tons of problems. If sensors are already on the way out, usually Seafoam does them in.

Beyond that, the first thing that came to mind was the fuel pressure regulator's diaphragm going out.

It's your distributor. And it's way too expensive, in a retarded spot, too prone to breaking, and a bitch to fix.

For you: It means a lot of money and a day or two in the shop. You might as well have the water pump, plugs and wires done while it's in there. If anything, just the water pump, since if it goes out it'll most likely take the new opti right with it, since it sits behind the water pump.

Soooo tighten them up maybe? Opti's + Water (which humid air is full of) = bad news. Now, don't go thinking that humid air is ruining your Opti, and that you shouldn't drive it when it's humid out lol I just mean that your Opti isn't in good health, or it's a direct cause of the loose bolts, so the humid air is just not helping it's already poor operation.

GM replacement piece. MSD maybe but it's higher. DO NOT buy Auto Zone or NAPA or Advance, etc. optis. GM or MSD or Dynaspark.

I agree with Denney, get the MSD setup, BUT! The Auto Zone (or maybe it's Advanced) sell theirs with a lifetime warranty. So you could get their Opti + the MSD Cap.

I wouldn't say I know you like a book, but I did read your first post here saying you didn't know much about cars, and you inherited the car from your late father

A cert mechanic buddy is good enough for me! However, I'd make sure he's done an opti or two before letting him tear into your car.
