Default car backfires alot..

well i have a 94 lt1..i have stock exhaust manifolds with the slp lm adapter to a 3in magnaflow bullet...cats gutted too...wen i floor it and the car shifts..its auto...the car backfires(pops) wen it goes into the next gear...mostly 1st to 2nd...what can cause this...not enough back pressure? let me know what you think

broken tranny mount? sure its from the exhaust?

no its the exhaust...wen it shift it more or less farts lol

my old auto trans am did the same thing when it woiuld shift "bang"! sounded like a gun shot...i wouldnt worry about... probably just the shock in stress the motor recieves when its free inbetween the shift and when it acutally engages the next gear....

If it sputters a little, you need to upgrade the Ignition System. Mine was doin that for a while, I got new Plugs/MSD Blaster Coil, and it was good.

did you put platinum plugs in? mine did the same thing because of them.

No.. I went with the AC Delco 41-906's..that is the Factory Plug for them. I never had a problems after that, ran real strong.
