what part of the bell housing/ clutch need to be removed for engine removal and how exactly is this done?

Two identical threads(with in minutes), just worded different. Are we sure it's not "Semi-Retarded"?
You should probably pick up a Hayes/Chilton manual if you plan to pull a motor. Will save tons of confusion, since it'll even have pics.

I removed the motor in my car through the top without the transmission and ended up pulling the tranny half out to get the input shaft stabbed in the motor. It was a real PIA.
I have removed everything through the bottom though and if you have the room that is the way to go for sure. If I remember right it's about 15 bolts and 2 dozen wiring connectors.
To answer your question, you can unbolt the tranny from the bellhousing or you can unbolt the bellhousing from the motor it doesn't much matter, you'll need to pull the clutch fork loose regardless.
