i was under the car today and saw this... i was installing the swaybar endlinks in my car today and decided to look around the radiator fans to see if there was any obvious reasons they werent coming on. when i did look, i saw this.
this is underneath the car looking forward at the fans. it looks like a sensor may be missing, possibly the pcm temp sensor.
closer look at what i am talking about
this is just forward of the driver side wheel. looks like the grounds have been chewed off, but i cant see anything to point to where they came from.
this is in the same area as the grounds, just higher up. i have no idea what these are for either. keep in mind that the AIR and EGR was eliminated by one of the previous owners.

YOu have a automatic transmisson in the car, Dunno if LT1 m6 cars came with coolers but what you have there is one of the inlet/outlet holes for the tranny cooler lines.
2nd pic is a broken ground strap, I dunno if it actually does anything but its best to fix if needed.
the other is part of the emissions system, I think the ground strap is part of it, I always kept mine in loop.

Pictures 1 and 2 show the trans fluid cooler connections. Apparently you have an auto radiator in an M6 car.
In pic 3, you can clearly see a stud with a ground hanging off of it with no nut to hold it on.

That is the automatic transmission cooler line fititng. There should be the same thing on the other side or a plug in the hole. That vehicle has had a radiator change because they use the same radiator for both the a4 and the m6

This is not true. For LT1 cars there is a different part number for M6 and A4 radiators. When you order it from a dealership they say they only have one number. I just had my original stock radiator crack not too long ago, it doesn't even have the provisions to hook up the A4 cooler lines. They are different, but it doesn't matter, still cools the same.

Yeah, the ground strap goes to that stud on the ignition coil. I have a pic somewhere but can't find it right now.
3rd pic is emissions but hard to tell where it goes by the pic.

BTW the PCM temp sensor you were thinking of in your first post is actually on your water pump housing and the guage is on the driver side head. If you fans aren't coming on then I would look elsewhere for your issue. Just follow the wiring and check for cracks, grounds, etc.
