Default Two-Piece Header Leak

I have a set of Jet-Hot long tube headers that I've recently installed on my car. I thought that I took care of all of the exhaust leaks today, but I found that the front primary on the driver's side is leaking where it slides into the rest of the header. I used copper RTV when I put them together, but it is still leaking. Is there a better way to seal this, or do I have to try again? I thought that a band clamp for a lap joint would work great, but the smallest one that I can find is for a 2" pipe, not 1-3/4".

Thanks
Andrew

Can you feel pulsing air blowing out of the slip-fit primary?

I have a similar setup on my headers, It does not appear to leak and I cant explain why not. I have tried copper RTV and it does not last. I also have a band clamp but I have never put it on.

Ive always wondered how that set up worked, and how it wouldnt leak. I thought you would have to use some kind of clamp to seal it. I got a buddy thats told me you can buy this stuff and it apparently seals small leaks, Ill give him a call and let you know.

Both headers went in from the bottom without jacking up the motor, but I didn't have the transmission in. I can hear a header leak, and if I put my hand by the slip fit connection, I can feel the exhaust coming out. I think I'm going to try a 2" band clamp. They are made to stretch quite a bit, so it might seal the 1-3/4" primary. I'll probably put more RTV on it and sandwich that with the band clamp. If anyone has any other ideas, I'm always open to suggestions.

Thanks
Andrew

I have a leak with mine too, I'm going to install a 3" wide 1.75" band clamp (special order) to fix that.
If that doesn't work, we're welding the bitch together.
