Exclamation Heads with new guides put in 3000 miles ago have .020" of play?

I had my heads ported by Lloyd earlier this year, and they have about 3000 miles on them. I had him port them, mill them, put in 2.0" and 1.6" valves, and put in new bronze guides. I'm in the middle of putting on new springs (changing out 918's to pac 1518's) and I noticed all of them seemed lose to me, but I have no idea whats acceptable or not. But now I just got to one exhaust valve, and it seemed VERY lose to me, so I set up my dial indicator real quick, and it has .020" play in it. Is this accepteable? Or am I going to have put pull my heads and have this fixed?

:edit:
I'm not sure if you measure the play at the valve tip, or the base, it has .020" of play at the top, or .013" of play at the bottom of the vavle stem.

Did you check your rocker geometry when you put the motor together?

.001 to .002 between the guide and the valve stem.do not measure end play at the tip.the valve really should'nt move side to side at all.

Yep you want 1 - 2 thou of play. Which you really can't feel or barely feel, but the valve should move up and down nice a freely.

.020 is way too much

Here's a video showing the slop.

I would say you have some serious issues there. Not only can you see the gap, but now that metal is in the motor.

Looks like you will need to pull the heads to address this issue.

Heres a picture showing the geometry. I don't have the intake manifold off yet so I can't put in a solid lifter to check the wear pattern, but when the rocker is on the base circle of the cam it is prety much dead center on the valve. I should have the heads off sometime this week...
