Default Computer tuning

I'm going to start modding my 96 TA in the near future and I want to start by swapping in 3.42 gears (2.73 stock). What is the best route for correcting the speedo, keeping in mind that I will have the car tuned at some point when the more major mods go on.

Thanks!

Mail order tune will be $100 for a basic tune to mess with the speedo. If you have a laptop, about $250 for everything necessary to use Tuner Cats... which you can make your own adjustments later when you do other mods.

Unfortunately for a 96, it's going to be significantly more than $250, about double that.

Oh yeh I forgot. I was basing it off my car. Does tuner cat even do 96-97?

You can get the mail order tune pretty easily. pcmforless.com will hook you up.

I've got a box from SLP that you can splice into the wire from the VSS to the PCM, and adjust via DIP switches for different gear ratios, to fix your speedo. The tune is obviously the best way, but if you want to wait to get the tune until you complete more engine mods, this little box works pretty well. I'll sell it cheap if you want it.
