How slow?? the car has a mail order tune but its really rich and has a stock torque converter. I only have first and third. but both gears feel strong and are not slipping. I was in third at 2,000 and he was in 2nd at 3,000 and he pulled me.

yea the torino has ladder bars and coil overs and DRs. but none of that matters bc we went from a roll and he still pulled me. damn that means my car probably runs 14s. lol I gotta figure out why its so slow??

First thing I would do is fix the problems you have now. Get the tranny fixed and then see what she does. haveing no second gear must have something to do with you losing. I was trapping 102mph when I was pretty much stock .

Well for one why would you race with no 2nd of course if your at 2k in 3rd and he's at 3k in second he's gonna pull on you at that low of rpm in that gear with a stock stall and a high reving cam you need about a 3600 stall and rev to about 6500 to get the best out of that cam and get your trans fixed.

Well, you've just explained all your issues right there. Now you know why you lost.

First, obviously having no 2nd gear is going to be a big hit, fix that first.

Second, the stock stall with cc306 is just a terrible combo, imo you should have upgraded the converter before the cam. The stock stall will make it real difficult to stay in the high power band of the 306.

Third, you could definitely benefit from a dyno or street tune with a cammed car.

Let us know how it runs when you change the trans and get a converter. If the car is running very rich, you need to get a better tune.

yes it does. I guess i am just frustrated with it bc i didnt do it right the first time. I didnt buy a converter the first time bc i was going to switch trannys and did not want to buy a converter for a 700r4 then turn around and blow up the 700 only to have to buy a th400 and a new converter to fit that. I ran out of money again.
