lt1 build up help
i have a lt1 block i pulled out of a parts car. im gonna have the bottom end rebuilt at a machine shop with forged internals. probably either at 355 or 383.
im trying to select parts and keep hearing mixed reviews of things. and i want to make sure i match everything correctly.
i was looking at the lt4 cam kit, but keep hearing its more hype then results. so besides the lt4 kit, what cam, valve springs, and rocker arms would you guys recommend?
im also having a hard time deciding on cylinder heads. ive used trickflow before on gen 1 motors and have like them. how are they on lt1's? or what other heads would you recommend?
also going to change the timing chain, timing gears, opti spark, coil, plug wires, etc.. was leaning towards MSD productis as far as the ignition goes, but as before, i dont have much experience with it as far as lt1's go.
the car already has 3.73 gears, borla cat back, no catalytic converter and a cai.
theres other things im gonna do that ive probably forgot to mention. the goal for the car is 11's n/a but im doing the forged bottom end with FI in mind at some point.
any input and recommendations on parts would be much appreciated. thanks.

LT4 is a good cam in a pretty much stock motor. My girl put one in here 383 when she had it rebuilt (didnt know any better) and it is holding her car back majorly. With a 383 you are gonna want way more cam. I wouldnt waste my money on one

The Trickflow heads are just a reworked for reverse flow cooling gen 1 head. The LT1 heads as cast are a BIG step up from the OEM gen 1 heads. So while a Trickflow as cast will be a signifigant upgrade from an as cast stock head, it will not be such a wonderful upgrade over an as cast LT1 head.
IMO send a set of stock LT1 aluminums to Advanced Induction and let them spec the cam. It worked well for me.

I am with him. Your best bet is to get the bottom end done and then send the heads in to AI and give them the details. They will get your heads done and spec a cam out to match your whole build. The aftermarket heads are an improvement but why spend that much when the stock castings ported are equally as good.
