I see you are wanting to do nitrous. Might not be a good idea with that kit. Crank could probably take some spray, but if you plan on going bigger than 125-150 shot, consider 4340 stuff with forged aluminum pistons.

Same problem I'm having right now, looked up the P/N for the rods that are in the motor in my garage, opps, only rated to 6k rpm and 500hp......... I've got a Nitrous Outlet plate sitting here wanting to run a 200 shot, guess I gotta replace the rods.

Why not just contact one of our sponsors?

They can get you a great deal on junk too

That kit is garbage in almost every aspect. Any power you start to make will be to the limits of most the parts in there.

Well guys the thing is I am only 17 and not that money is a MAJOR issue, but I would like to keep cost in mind, as it will be my summer earnings and the grace of my parents paying for it. Are there any kits yall would recommend? Or a list of parts that would make a good setup?

Agreed I would not get that kit. The crank is ok but if you're building the motor you definitely want to do at least forged pistons and rods.

Don't aim so high. Boltons and maybe a cam can provide a fair amount of performance and cost enough without trying to do a shortblock too.

Also don't want to tap out all your funds and then have a problem and be unable to fix it.

Well the build isnt necessarily just because I want to, its because somethings wrong with the motor, it wont crank over ENTIRELY, and the only thing left that I have not tried is pulling the motor and seeing whats up when its apart. So that got me to thinking that if it is gonna happen in the future why not just do it all while its out on a stand the first time ya know?

The problem is Thinking you are saving money you still will have to balance the assembly and the cost to have the heads done to make good power will run close to 3k. If you don't have to rebuild just do heads and cam

Nope, I bought it that way. When I got it home finally (trailered and it was a pain lol) there was water in the oil, oil in the water, and a lot of liquid on the spark plugs. It had been sitting up for a quite a while. The lady did not know a whole lot about it as it had been her ex-husbands car.

Kit comes balanced. and it has LE2 heads on it. I dunno if it has a cam or not, I have no papers, receipts or records of whats been done, all i know is what i can see from popping the hood. I do know it ran 8's but that was surely surely surely in 1000 ft because we have no 1/4 tracks around in arkansas.

Well a car like that should run low 7's in the 1/8. Regardless, sounds like a blown head gasket. If it has LE2 heads on it, it more than likely has a cam in it. However, I would tear the thing down, look up the lobe numbers, then you'll know on the cam. Look at the numbers on the bottom end pieces too. You might have a 383 and not know it or something. Hell bottom end may not be wiped. You need to see what you have before you decide on what you need. Don't get ahead of yourself.

Thats actually the best advice ive heard. When I get back I planned on dropping the motor(all tools and such being delivered back home as I type ). Then once the motor is out, its going to a buddy of mines house. His father is a pretty reputable chassis builder, and builds all the motors for his race cars, which currently his son races and is doing quite well around the state. I figure he can tell me whats up with the motor, what all is done to it, and of course whats wrong with it. Going with the 383 was just me thinking worst case scenario.
