Default LT4 Cam dowel pin??

I'm installing the LT4 Hot cam kit and the dowel pin needs to be 0.310 inches from the front of the cam surface. What does this equate to?? I'm trying to tap it to the same length of my factory cam but the pin will not go in any futher. In fact it is starting to mushroom over but it sticks out more than the factory cam one does. Please help.

If its too long just measure it and take a dremel with a cut off wheel to it. Thats what I did. Its not something that needs to be extremely precise or difficult.

x2

that's what I did with my comp501 cam.. covered the bearing journals and lobes with a heavy rag, and took a grinder to the dowel pin to shorten it. chamfered the end so the cam gear would go on easier- there ya go!

If I understand your question correctly, 5/16" = .3125. You can use a rule to get it close enough.

nonvented opti is the shorter i think, and if i remember correctly is .310.

I used a grinder. Hint: take your time, do it in several steps and cool the pin in between, don't get it too hot. Chamfer the tip slightly.
