Default My CC503 Dyno #'s

Quite a few people wanted to know what kind of numbers I was going to put down cam only with the 503 (224/230 112lsa) so I figured I'd make a post for the guys who wanted to know and for people who are interested in this cam.

The car is an A4 with 3.73's, CC503 Cam, Comp 1.6RR's, Jet-Hot LT's, ORY, Open Cutout, and K&N Airfilter.
It put down 328rwhp in 93 degree weather through the Automatic on a DynoJet. Im pretty pleased I was expecting more like 315-320ish.

Couple questions: Do you think I would dyno more in cooler weather? Anyone know the estimated 4l60e drivetrain loss?

I dunno man those sound pretty low. I've seen hot cammed cars and cars with sleeper cams get that. Try going back in better weather.

Those numbers do look a little low even for an auto without headwork. +2 on that knowing the air fuel ratio. Also has the car been tuned?

Seem low to me, tune and A/F??? they say 8% M6 and 10-12 Auto are the average losses. What is your elevation?

I love my 503. With it and the supporting mods and LE2 heads in a 4400 lb boat it turned a 12.18@112. With the hp calulator off the camaro forum it calulated to a little over 400RWHP. It idles good and makes good low end power. Which is what I need to get the boat off the line. Great cam.

I dont have a converter. The elevation is at 300 some feet. It put down 316rwhp and with tuning ended up with 328rwhp. My A/F is 12.8. It was run on the dyno in 3rd Gear and up to 5900rpm. I thought 350rwhp was more for the 6 speed guys not the A4's? I'll post up the graph tomorrow.

If you didn't lock the converter that is an easy 10-15 right there.

Numbers are fine, autos don't dyno well at all. I'm sure hes stock headed or he would have put down what heads he was running. It'll make more power in colder weather, get a Converter asap, who cares what it dynoes, it'll never put up the M6 numbers people love to go by, so long as it runs what it should who cares. With a good converter and tire, your car would hit bottom 12s.

my car with the same cam put 381rwhp through a 6spd and 3.23 gear

I would imagine a non-locked auto would easily dyno much less than what I did. especially with a larger gear and fewer bolt ons.

like everyone else says, numbers on the dyno don't matter. numbers on the track do. the use of a dyno is only for finding your car's sweet spot in power, and knowing what it responds well to. you could do the same thing tuning it at the track, but there are far too many variables to see a real-world gain at the track from tune to tune (shift RPM, missing a gear, launch RPM, etc)

if you car runs about 109mph in the 1/4 you should be right on par with what it should run IMO

May sound dumb but how do I know if it was locked or not?

My heads are completely stock untouched. I was told torque numbers for an Automatic on the dyno arent very accurate but it was putting down 330's for the first 4 runs then 405rwtq for the last run.

Just what I was waiting for! At least now I have an idea of what numbers my car can put up! Hopefully if the local car club here can schedule a dyno day then I will know for sure what it puts up.

I don't think your numbers are that low for an A4. The cc503 is basically the same as the hotcam and I put down 337 in an m6 with my hotcam. You know if your converter locked up on the dyno if you see a loop on your dynograph. Besides that, take this thing to the track. Oh and it doesn't matter how hot it was outside when you dynoed cause thats the beauty of SAE correction

Typically the tuner will lock it, since you have to adjust the program to do that.

stock stall wont make a huge difference if locked/unlocked.

the numbers are right in line with what an automatic would dyno with a CC503.

I don't see a loop so Im guessing it was run with the converter unlocked.

Dynos are nice, but they are a tuning tool...If the tune is spot on then you should have fun with it...12.8:1 a/f is a good safe ratio (its what I run)...You'd laugh at my dyno numbers, but I trap just shy of 120...For the most part dyno numbers themselves don't mean too much to me...

I would look into a converter though, it would help your car out a lot...Check out something that stalls between 500-900 rpm below your torque peak....
