Default how much to rebuild??

i have a 94 lt1 and i wanted to know how much i would be spending to rebuild the engine, it has over 200xxx miles on it, its not giving me to many problems i just wanna do a rebuild before anything does happen. don't wanna go all crazy even though i would love to but, don't have the money to do anything i really want to, so i just wanted to do a simple rebuild. so how much am i looking at to spend???

All depends on the parts your putting in. What brand, forged or not, stuff like that.

Lets see, i think a friend and I did one for ....

175 Head job

75 rings

80ish Bearings

200ish Gaskets

250 Cam(not neccisary)

105 Block checked out

FREE port and polish by me.

So, reusing the stock pistons and doing a good hone job (by me) he got away with 1000$ So actually reusing your stock cam and having it bored you would be looking about 1250$ give or take with new pistons.

Hope this helps.

If you're doing a rebuild it makes sense for what you are already spending to do at least forged pistons/rods.

Hell, i have built motors for the longest, i only use forged if i am going to:

1) spin the motor above 6K rpm

2) Spray it with the juice

Thats just me though, i have never had hyper. pistons fail on me, but thats just the way i do things.

well, yeah even new hyper pistons would be an improvement over reusing the 200k mile stockers.
