Default LT1 383 1/8th mile results

went to the local 1/8th and there was some kind of school event going on so they were doing some bracket racing. i had no experience with that but i made it to the 3rd round before redlighting. i got to sandbag a little, so that was cool. but i wanted to run flat out and i didn't get enough opportunity. my best reaction time was a .125. which i felt pretty good about. and my best time was an 8.5x at 85.xx with 2.0x 60ft.

so i really need to get my launch down. i ran this black car (not sure what it was, old malibu gutted/caged/loud/n-a) and he was running 8.0 and 8.1 pretty consistant. and i heated up the 295 bfg dr's pretty good and didn't expect them to bite as well as they did but they did and i didn't give it enough throttle so i bogged. and he put a car in between us and as soon as i came back to life i was right on his *** the whole way down the track. i ran a 8.9x on that bog run. but with a 1.xx sixty foot i believe i can run low 8s.

overall im really pleased with the way the car felt/sounded. i would much rather run the 1/4 mile but hey. my first time at the track with a car with a little extra horsepower to play with. i busted every mustang out there except for 2 all out drag car's. but i owned every street car out there mustang/camaro/rice rocket-wise. the guy that won the bracket event was in a 200x gto with 18"s or 19"s spinning all the way down the track running 9.0's. oh well, hopefully going to rockingham this weekend.

What track did you run at? Mooreville? Good numbers. What's your top end setup?

You should be in the 7's. When I was cam only(same cam your using) I ran 7.6's and now with a 355 run 7.2's untuned. Have you had the car tuned yet?

im on a tune from ed wright, no dyno tune yet. it made 370/390 on the dynojet before the mail order tune, and it was spinning on the dyno because of my tires. so im guessing im probably about 400rwhp as it is now. the power is there it was just me. i couldn't really get a good bite, my best 60' was a 2.05. and that was on a .4xx reaction time. when i got the tires good and hot and they wanted to bite, i had a little wheel hop that really slowed me down. i thought i had my pinion angle set to -3 but im going to have to check it again. i probably need some subframe connectors or something too.

and im sure im probably not shifting at the best times either. i was shifting at around 6k, not sure if i even need to be taking it that high. i think i could have hit a 8.0 with a few more runs. its a 6 speed and i haven't got this stage 3 clutch down pat yet. i guess i just need to get my suspension dialed in and get some more practice. ill get it, i know the power is in the car but without me being able to control it properly, its not going to come out.

No offense man but your car is WAY down on power if you are only trapping 85mph in the 1/8th. I was going 92-93 on a mild h/c full weight 350 c/i setup.

Gonna have to agree with most. My big *** caprice with the same cam u running on stock heads can pull 80mph with a 4.56 gear in the 8th. I've saw cars that put down 420/400 go 7.4's, if u can put down 400/400, u should be in the mid 7's no probelm. You need to pull that cam to about 6400-500.

Not to bust your ***** but my 2000 regal gs et's that or more, sounds like you only makin around 330 whp to me. You might want to twist that thing harder or you need 4.10 grs. A mild 383 should trap atleast 110 in 1/4 90 1/8mi soundlike your down 50whp. NO OFFENSE by anymeans just trying to figure out what the deal is.

I shifted my cam only setup to 6700 with that cam, so if I were you with a 383 spin it to at least 6500. That's why your mph is low.

that seams a little slow for your setup like said. ive ran a 8.6 with a stock motor. i weigh a little less but i was also pulling a 2.2 60 due to my 7 inch wide tires. something seems up considering how much you have done

well, good. im glad to see there is a lot of room for improvement for me. im definitely losing a full second right off gate and then playing catch up. for my first time out with the car since the motor i am not too upset with the times. ill get in the 7s with some practice, like i said, i know the power is there.

edit: i definitely was granny shifting come to think of it, i was a little hesitant to slam the gears like i used to, stock t56, about 12k on it.

My old combo:

stock bottom end
old LE2 ported stock castings
230/236 on a 114LSA
mailorder tune
M6 tranny with 3.73's

I put down 368rwhp/336rwtq with the mailorder tune

I ran 12.5 @ 114.x in the 1/4 and 8.2 @ 90mph in the 1/8th with a 2.0X 60'.

I wonder what the DA of your track was for that day...
