Default ATTN: guys who are running the Comp 503!!!

of the people on here that run the Comp 503 (224/230, .503/.510" 112) cam.

how many of you all have dynoed your car? I'm really interested in seeing where other people's cars PEAK, and how they carry out beyond 6k RPM

here's a copy of mine from a superflow dyno last year:

I know it doesn't show the power loss in the upper RPM because they didn't twist it beyond 6k, but where does everyone else peak? I'm not concerned with the power numbers at all, just the RPM.

I'm trying to determine if I have a valve train problem (918's, 1.6 pro-mags, etc... stock lifters) or if the cam just peters out after 6k, and that's all there is to it.

thanks in advance,
rob

We only ran mine up to 5900 but it was still making power and didnt show signs of it cuting out at 6000. I heard our cars with the cc503 make power up until 6300ish.

well... mine seemed to fall off pretty quick after 6300. not quite "valve-float" quick, but quicker than i thought it should.

I still think my 93k mile lifters are bleeding off in the upper RPM. stiff springs and quick ramp-rates might just over come the lifters ability to stay pumped up in the higher rpm range.

think about it: lifters start bleeding down with higher lift #'s, the lift and duration of the cam are reduced, making the motor peter-out quicker than it should. who knows, by 6300rpm, the valves may only be seeing the lift and duration that a hot-cam has, and most of them peter out about 6300 I think?

I really don't wanna take the intake off and swap in a new set of lifters just to find out I'm wrong, but it seems like something I might have to do. hmm... LS7 lifters are only $100 bucks, and intake gaskets are only $16. it might be worth finding a few more HP up top...
