you guys who have installed pacesetter long tubes (race style) on LT1's, did you install them from the bottom of the car up or did you have to drop the k member??

I agree. You do not need to drop the K member.

I installed them both from the bottom! I used a lift but if you get it up high enough on jack stands then is shouldnt make any difference. Remove the steering knuckle, starter, alternator, and oil dipstick tube and you should be good.

I did my pacesetters from the bottom. The race versions are pretty easy. You do not need to jack the motor up or anything. But you will need to get the car pretty high up.

had to get rid of the dipstick tube and steering knuckle but other than that they went in just fine. one thing, rubber mallet and a block of wood on the tops of the collectors for a little more clearance. otherwise when you punch it you'll rub the underside of the car and the whole thing resonates and sounds crappy. plus it can't be too overly good for the headers or the car.

Loosen your K-member. Dont drop it all the way out. Youll do less damage to your Longtubes if you use a lift and lower your K-member down an inch or two. Every littlebit helps when it come to installing longtubes on a LT1.
